Building Phases - Uniformity (from 1964)

In 1964, the new  local plan provided the following instruction:
- 24 uniform skyscrapers
- height: 100 meter
- 25 floors
- floor area: 24 x 42 meter

The three pictures below show buildings which were build in this phase and which look very uniformly.

Tower Aurore  (1970, Sector D2, 100m, 29 floors)
Demolition in 2010, will be replaced by a new tower called Air2 (see "21. Century")
Tower AIG (1967, Sector D2, 115m, 27 floors)

Furthermore, the eastern part of La Défense which includes the sectors D1-D11 got the name "Quartier d`Affaires". This is the business and office area including habitation and supply for the inhabitans and employees. The 12th sector is new and the west-east axis is supposed to be lenghtened about 2km in the future. The western part is called "Quartier du Parc" and offers public green space, sports areas but also habitation. Here you can also find the 25ha large parc André Malraux.
